International Women's Rights Day
Today is International Women's Rights Day.
This year's theme, "For an inclusive digital world: innovation and technologies for gender equality", is considered in several programmes implemented by LuxDev.
In Senegal, for example, gender equity is a specific objective of the programme SEN/032 - Vocational and technical training and employability, whose main objective is the integration of young people. The programme thus aims to provide equal access to technical and industrial training for girls. The overall amount of funding from the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg for this operation is EUR 724 000 over a period of 15 months.
To this end, a partnership has been established between the Senegalese Ministry of Vocational Training, Apprenticeship and Integration (MFPAI), the Grow Academy start-up and the Luxembourg Cooperation to support 1,000 young girls from the outskirts of Dakar in their training and integration process.
The aim of the action is to train, certify and integrate young women divided into cohorts with monthly entries. The training, which lasts a total of 18 months, follows the "Digital Marketing" curriculum, validated by a specialised certificate. In parallel to this technical training, the learners receive pre-professional training in soft skills aimed at acquiring behavioural modules and management of micro-enterprises. At the end of each cohort's training, integration is monitored and a diagnostic analysis is carried out.

The programme also supports young people towards integration through the use of digital technology through its collaboration with Orange Digital Center, the pillar of the CSR policy of the national telephone company Sonatel. This Academy, which includes a coding school as well as incubation, entrepreneurial support and financing spaces to support digital inclusion and entrepreneurship, has trained 50 "hackers", young girls with a pre-baccalaureate level of education, to help them in their professional integration.
