Working visit of Franz Fayot to Costa Rica, where a LuxDev office will be opened
The Minister for Cooperation and Humanitarian Affairs, Franz Fayot, visited Costa Rica from 23 to 27 January 2023, accompanied by Christophe Schiltz, Director of Cooperation and Humanitarian Action and Manuel Tonnar, Director General of LuxDev. They met with representatives of the Regional Centre for the Promotion of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (CENPROMYPE), which implements, in collaboration with LuxDev, the Regional Programme for the Promotion of Women's Entrepreneurship - Phase II financed by the Luxembourg Cooperation.
As explained in a press release from the Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs and the Directorate for Development Cooperation and Humanitarian Action, this mission was carried out in the framework of the "new strategic approach to Luxembourg's development cooperation with the region and the countries of Central America". The Luxembourg Cooperation will thus establish a regional presence with a diplomatic mission and a LuxDev office in Costa Rica.
During this working visit, Franz Fayot and Arnoldo André Tinoco, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Costa Rica, signed a memorandum of understanding formalising the bilateral development cooperation relations between the two countries. The sectors of intervention of the projects will concern the socio-economic integration of women and youth, climate resilience and environmental sustainability as well as social cohesion and human rights.
