Four Kosovo businesses awarded LuxAid support to scale innovative solutions
Kosovo 18.09.2026 Projet
Four Kosovo-based companies have recently been selected for co-financing through the second edition of the LuxAid Demonstration Fund (LDF) in the country, bringing forward innovative solutions that address challenges in sustainable food production, climate adaptation, healthcare and digital services. By supporting the scaling-up of innovative business models, the LDF helps companies transform promising solutions into sustainable ventures that generate economic, social and environmental impact. Chosen through a highly competitive selection process, the four projects combine commercial potential in green and digital innovation with tangible social, economic and environmental benefits, demonstrating how private sector innovation can contribute to sustainable development in Kosovo.
From 200 applications to 4 winning projects
The call for proposals attracted strong interest, with 200 applications opened on the platform. Following an eligibility screening and a qualitative assessment, 15 projects were shortlisted. Of these, 10 advanced to the due diligence phase, where their business models, financial capacity, proposed solutions and potential development impact were examined in greater detail.
The process culminated in June 2026, when eight finalists pitched their projects to the Selection Committee. Following the evaluation, four companies were awarded LDF co-financing : Agro-Florentina Shpk, Matrics Blockchain Shpk, PBC Shpk and Kosova Foods Shpk.
Together, these projects represent a total investment of approximately EUR 2.5 million, including more than EUR 1.05 million in co-financing provided by Luxembourg Development Cooperation through the LDF.
Turning innovations into impact
Although they operate in different sectors, the four companies share a common goal : using innovation to tackle real-world challenges while generating lasting benefits for people, communities and the environment.
With LDF co-financing, each company will now strengthen and scale up its solution, transforming promising innovations into measurable results for people, businesses and communities.
Agro-Florentina Shpk – Building circular and climate-resilient value chains for forest products
Agro-Florentina specialises in the production of mushrooms, forest fruits, and medicinal and aromatic plants. With LDF co-financing, the company will invest in two smart greenhouses, upgraded cold-storage facilities, solar energy systems and rainwater harvesting infrastructure. Selected farmers will also receive equipment for mushroom cultivation. The project will further strengthen circular production by transforming organic waste into valuable products such as compost and pellets. Agro-Florentina aims to boost its productivity and expand economic opportunities for an additional 1,000 producers across its rural supplier network.
Matrics Blockchain Shpk – Heart+ : expanding access to cardiovascular care through digital innovation
Matrics Blockchain develops digital technologies, including solutions for the healthcare sector. Through the LDF, the company will launch Heart+, a service designed to improve access to cardiovascular screening, diagnostics and follow-up care in Kosovo. The initiative aims to reach 20,000 patients across 15 healthcare institutions and provide training for 50 healthcare professionals, helping to strengthen access to specialised cardiovascular care.
PBC Shpk – Simplifying digital transactions with rTrust
PBC provides software development, cybersecurity and digital transformation services. With LDF support, the company will expand rTrust, its digital trust platform that enables secure identity verification, electronic signatures and document validation. By reducing paperwork, administrative burdens and unnecessary in-person visits, the platform will help organisations, businesses and citizens access services more efficiently. The project is expected to reach more than 60,000 additional users while creating 10 new jobs.
Kosova Foods Shpk – Advancing circular food systems
Kosova Foods operates in food production and distribution through Buka Bakery and the M2Go range of ready-to-eat products. LDF co-financing will enable the company to scale up a more circular approach to food production by making better use of surplus food, extending the shelf life of fresh products and improving production planning. Over the 2 years of the project, the initiative is expected to redirect an additional 16,900 kg of food waste that might otherwise be discarded and create 25 new full-time jobs.

Creating value beyond individual businesses
While each project addresses a specific sector challenge, its impact extends far beyond the company itself.
Together, the projects demonstrate how local businesses can contribute to addressing some of Kosovo's key development priorities, from strengthening food systems and reducing waste to improving access to healthcare and accelerating digital transformation.
As implementation begins, the four companies will focus on scaling up their solutions, delivering measurable results and creating long-term value for the communities they serve.
Congratulations to Agro-Florentina Shpk, Matrics Blockchain Shpk, PBC Shpk and Kosova Foods Shpk, and thank you to all partners who contributed to the success of this edition. We look forward to following their progress and the impact these projects will create !
