Advancing digital learning in early childhood education
Laos 16.07.2026 Projet
On 6 July 2026, the Local development programme, in partnership with the Finance Department of Vientiane Province, officially handed over 58 tablet devices to the Provincial Education and Sports Service to support teachers at 52 kindergartens and pre-primary schools across six target districts (Hinheup, Kasi, Maet, Feuang, Meun and Xanakham). The tablets will strengthen early childhood education by equipping teachers with digital tools to improve lesson planning, classroom instruction, child-centred teaching approaches, school reporting and access to quality educational resources. The initiative also supports the integration of digital technology into everyday teaching and learning, contributing to more inclusive, engaging and effective learning environments for young children.
At the handover ceremony
The handover ceremony brought together representatives from the Finance Department of Vientiane Province, the Provincial Education and Sports Service, Sysmatik IT Solution, and the Local development programme team, reflecting their shared commitment to improving the quality of education and expanding opportunities for children through digital innovation.
Speaking at the ceremony, Mr Kham KHANTHAVIVONE, Head of the Provincial Education and Sports Service, expressed his appreciation for the Local development programme's continued support for strengthening the education sector. He reaffirmed the department's commitment to ensuring the effective use, proper management and maintenance of the tablet devices to maximise their contribution to improved teaching practices and learning outcomes.
The initiative forms part of the Local development programme's broader efforts to strengthen local service delivery and build the capacity of provincial institutions to provide equitable, high-quality education for all children.
