At the Inclusive FinTech Forum 2026, the Ministry of ICT and Innovation (MINICT) officially launched the Rwanda FinTech Centre, marking a significant milestone in the country's digital transformation journey. At the heart of this initiative lies a strong and growing partnership between the Kigali International Financial Centre (KIFC), MINICT, and the Luxembourg Development Cooperation, reflecting a shared commitment to advancing inclusive digital finance and fostering sustainable economic growth.

Inclusive Fintech Forum

The Inclusive FinTech Forum 2026 is a global convention that brings together policymakers, regulators, investors, financial institutions and innovators from around the world to advance inclusive digital finance. Held at Kigali’s Convention Centre, it focuses on building partnerships and expanding access to financial services, particularly in emerging markets such as Africa.

A strategic partnership driving innovation

The collaboration between LuxDev and KIFC played a central role in the launch of the FinTech Centre, demonstrating how international cooperation can translate into tangible development outcomes. Drawing on Luxembourg’s experience with the Luxembourg House of Financial Technology (LHoFT) and Rwanda’s dynamic fintech ecosystem, the partnership aims to unlock new opportunities for innovation, investment and inclusion.

Luxembourg is proud to partner with KIFC and MINICT to drive inclusive growth. The FinTech Centre will deliver tangible impact for consumers and companies by enabling them to access better financial services in savings, investments, capital and much more.

Building on a growing ecosystem

Rwanda’s fintech sector already shows strong momentum, with more than 100 companies operating across the ecosystem. While payments and lending dominate the landscape, significant opportunities remain in savings, investments, digital banking and insurance.

The Rwanda FinTech Centre represents the next phase of Rwanda’s financial innovation journey. By creating a platform where financial institutions, innovators, regulators and investors can collaborate, we are building an ecosystem that translates policy ambition into practical market solutions that expand access to finance and support economic growth across Africa.

The country’s progress is driven by robust digital infrastructure and close collaboration between fintech firms, telecom operators and financial institutions. However, as the sector evolves, increasing access to capital and supporting investment-ready start-ups will be essential. The FinTech Centre is expected to address these gaps by fostering partnerships, supporting entrepreneurs and enabling innovation at scale.

Positioning Rwanda as a regional fintech hub

Through the combined efforts of its partners, the Rwanda FinTech Centre aims to position the country as a regional launchpad for fintech innovation. By enabling both local and global companies to scale their solutions and expand access to financial services, the initiative is set to drive inclusive growth and reduce financial disparities.

The Rwanda FinTech Centre will play a critical role in advancing our ambition to build a vibrant digital economy and strengthen Rwanda’s position as a hub for innovation in Africa.
