A one-week study visit and training programme, organised within the framework of the Energy transition and climate mitigation in Kosovo project, brought together solar energy companies from Kosovo to explore some of Europe’s most advanced practices in the German solar sector, providing hands-on insights into technology, market development, and models of cooperation that can be adapted back home. The participating businesses returned from Berlin with new knowledge, stronger partnerships and a clearer vision for growth.

Setting foundations for future collaboration

For the participating companies, the visit was more than a training opportunity; it was a practical learning experience that demonstrated how innovation, strong institutions and collaboration between the private and public sectors can accelerate the energy transition. Participants highlighted the value of seeing successful examples first-hand, particularly in areas such as sector organisation, quality standards and long-term planning key elements for strengthening Kosovo’s renewable energy market.

A key moment of the programme was the meeting with the German Renewable Energy Federation (BEE). Welcomed by the Head of International Projects, Mr Sebastian JASIM, the delegation gained valuable insights into developments in Germany and across Europe, as well as into future trends shaping the energy sector.

The discussions also opened the door to concrete cooperation : BEE is expected to initiate joint activities with Kosovo's Metal Industry and Renewable Energy Cluster, aimed at supporting the further development of Kosovo’s energy sector.

The visit concluded with a reception at the Embassy of Kosovo in Berlin, where Ambassador Faruk AJETI presented the Embassy’s work and discussed opportunities to promote Kosovo as an emerging destination for renewable energy investment. This exchange reinforced the importance of institutional networking in positioning Kosovo within the international green energy market.

Participating companies (ELING, Elen, Alfa Solar Energy, SunVolta Energy, Megaterm, Solar2, and Hotas Solar LLC), alongside representatives from the Ministry of Economy, actively engaged throughout the programme, showcasing Kosovo’s growing renewable energy potential and commitment to learning from European best practices.

About the project

The objective of the Energy transition and climate mitigation in Kosovo project is to promote and facilitate the adoption of energy efficiency measures and renewable energy sources in Kosovo's transition to clean energy. The project is funded by the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg and implemented by the Ministry of Economy and LuxDev, the Luxembourg Development Cooperation Agency.
