Kosovo’s digital future in focus at KosICT 2025

Kosovo’s biggest technology festival, KosICT, once again turned the spotlight on innovation, talent, and collaboration. Organised by the Kosovo ICT Association (STIKK) and supported by the government of Luxembourg through LuxDev, the Luxembourg Development Cooperation Agency, the 14th edition of KosICT brought together tech enthusiasts, entrepreneurs, investors, and policymakers from around the world. Over two dynamic days, the festival buzzed with energy and exchange — from inspiring keynote speeches and start-up pitches to discussions on digital transformation and the future of work.

Speaking at the opening of the event, Mr Eric DIETZ, Chargé d’affaires a.i. at the Embassy of Luxembourg in Pristina, highlighted the growing significance of Kosovo’s tech scene.

The project Skills for sustainable jobs in Kosovo, implemented by LuxDev, also took part in the festival, contributing to a panel titled “Dual VET in Kosovo’s ICT Sector : Opportunities, Challenges, and Pathways Forward”.

Speaking at the discussion, Mr Ralph ROTHE, Project Manager, emphasised the importance of linking vocational training with the real needs of industry.

Luxembourg and Kosovo have built a strong partnership over the years, with a shared goal : to create sustainable opportunities through innovation and education. Through LuxDev’s cooperation programmes, Luxembourg supports Kosovo in developing modern ICT curricula, training instructors in digital skills, and fostering collaboration between universities, businesses, and vocational schools.

Projects such as Skills for sustainable jobs in Kosovo and partnerships with STIKK help bridge the gap between education and employment. They promote Dual Vocational Education and Training, ensuring that young people gain practical, industry-relevant experience while studying.

These efforts are part of a broader vision : to support Kosovo’s transition towards a future-ready, inclusive, and competitive digital economy. As Ambassador DIETZ noted, “the work of entrepreneurs, innovators, and educators is shaping the future of Kosovo — and Luxembourg is proud to stand with them”.

The Skills for sustainable jobs in Kosovo project is funded by the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg and implemented by the Ministry of Education, Science, Technology and Innovation, and by LuxDev, the Luxembourg Development Cooperation Agency. The project aims to contribute to sustainable economic growth by supporting innovation, inclusiveness, and social development in a greener Kosovo.
