The 14th edition of the Business Partnership Facility (BPF) is now open! This initiative, funded by the Luxembourg government and implemented by LuxDev, the Luxembourg Development Cooperation Agency, offers co-financing of up to EUR 200,000 for projects by Luxembourg or EU-based enterprises that integrate sustainability through partnerships with organisations in developing countries. Whatever your sector, the BPF can help your enterprise expand internationally while contributing to a fairer, more inclusive and sustainable future.

From innovation to action: business partnerships for a more sustainable world

Recently selected projects show how private sector actors from Luxembourg and Europe are using innovation to advance sustainable development.

With the BPF support, IBISA is strengthening the financial resilience of Bangladeshi smallholder farmers against climate risks by embedding its innovative parametric insurance solution into agricultural loans provided by microfinance institutions.

Backed by the BPF, Weather Impact and Luxembourg startup Oko Finance have joined force to provide Malian farmers with bundled mobile services– combining insurance, weather forecasts and alerts – to bolster their resilience to climate risks.

Where business opportunities meet development cooperation

Since its launch in 2016, the BPF has supported 50 partnership projects linking European businesses with organisations in more than 20 developing countries.

The BPF empowers companies to put their technologies and expertise to work in high-impact projects – from feasibility studies and pilot schemes to building new value chains or scaling up proven solutions.

Apply by 31 October 2025

The BPF targets private sector enterprises based in Luxembourg or the EU that have been operating for at least three years, generate a minimum annual turnover of EUR 500,000 (or three times the requested co-financing) and employ at least five staff members.

Eligible projects must be implemented in partnership with an entity – wether a company, NGO, or public body, etc. – in a developing country (over 140 countries are eligible). They must demonstrate innovation, financial viability, and measurable impact aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

Applicants have until 31 October 2025 to submit their projects via the dedicated platform.

The selection process has two stages:

  1. pre-selection based on the initial application;
  2. final selection in 2026, following submission of a detailed proposal by shortlisted candidates.

Two information webinars will be organised soon:
