A decade of impactful partnerships: ready to write the next chapter ?

The Business Partnership Facility (BPF) is celebrating its 10th anniversary. Since 2016, it has brought together European businesses and organisations in developing countries to turn local challenges into opportunities for innovation, growth and sustainable development. Today, the BPF is launching its 16th call for proposals, with applications open until 31 October 2026. 

An initiative of Luxembourg Development Cooperation, the BPF provides co-financing of up to EUR 300,000 for innovative ventures developed by Luxembourgish or European Union (EU)-based companies and their partners based in developing countries.

This latest call is also an opportunity to look back on a decade of achievements and celebrate the partnerships that have helped drive them. 

The BPF was founded on a simple belief: businesses can play a key role in developing sustainable responses to some of today's most pressing challenges.

Ten years later, the results speak for themselves. More than 50 projects have received support, leveraging nearly EUR 15 million in public and private investment. Together, they have helped create over 2,200 jobs and generated benefits for more than 100,000 people across developing countries.

To mark this milestone, the BPF is shining a spotlight on 10 years of collaboration and innovation through a special anniversary page featuring entrepreneur and partner testimonials, videos, flagship projects and thematic articles that offer insight into the progress made over the past decade.

Over the years, the BPF has established itself as a unique mechanism enabling EU-based companies to test new approaches or expand innovative business models into new markets, in partnership with local stakeholders.

From sustainable agriculture and energy access to climate resilience, financial inclusion and digital services, supported initiatives show that business success and positive social impact can go hand in hand.

By supporting the testing, adaptation and demonstration phases of innovative solutions, the BPF helps reduce the risks associated with innovation while fostering viable business models that respond to real development needs.

Interested companies have until 31 October 2026 to submit their application online.

The selection process will take place in two stages:

1. pre-selection, based on an initial application form;
2. final selection, scheduled for the first half of 2027, based on a detailed project proposal submitted by shortlisted applicants.

Information webinars

Two online information sessions will be held to present the facility and answer questions from interested companies:

• 29 September 2026 at 3 pm (CEST), in English;
• 30 September 2026 at 11 am (CEST), in French.

The Business Partnership Facility is initiated and funded by the Directorate for Development Cooperation and Humanitarian Affairs of the Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs, Defence, Development Cooperation and Foreign Trade of Luxembourg. It is implemented by LuxDev, the Luxembourg Development Cooperation Agency, in partnership with the Luxembourg Chamber of Commerce, Luxinnovation and the Ministry of the Economy.
