Context

In a context where West African universities continue to face challenges in applied research and innovation, the SnT4Dev project aims to strengthen scientific and technological capacities in the region. It addresses the necessity to build bridges between academic research and the concrete needs of development aid actors, particularly in the fields of digital technology, energy, security, and inclusion.

Objectives

SnT4Dev’s overall objective is to stimulate high-impact applied research within partner universities in Senegal and Benin. The project supports the co-creation of research themes between African and Luxembourgish researchers, aligned with local priorities. It also facilitates partnerships with the private sector and public institutions. A digital platform enables project submissions, stakeholder connections and collaboration monitoring. The project promotes an inclusive, transparent and sustainable approach.

Beneficiaries

The direct beneficiaries are researchers, PhD students and students from the partner universities in Senegal and Benin. The project also benefits public institutions, local businesses and vulnerable populations through its targeted research themes.

Target geographical area

The project, coordinated from LuxDev's headquarters, operates primarily in Senegal and Benin, two countries that are strongly committed to the development of higher education and research.

Stakeholders

The project is implemented by LuxDev in partnership with the SnT (Interdisciplinary Centre for Security, Reliability and Trust) at the University of Luxembourg. It also involves African universities such as Cheikh Anta Diop University in Dakar and the University of Abomey-Calavi in Cotonou.
