Context
To better align scientific research with development cooperation priorities, the LuxAid BRIDGES programme aims to mobilise the expertise of Luxembourg's research community in support of high-impact, concrete projects. It addresses a dual challenge: promoting applied research and contributing to Luxembourg’s international solidarity objectives.
Objectives
LuxAid BRIDGES supports applied research projects in the fields of development cooperation and humanitarian aid. The programme operates through calls for proposals open to Luxembourg research institutions. It fosters collaboration with partners in the Global South and encourages innovative, interdisciplinary and impact-oriented approaches. An annual workshop is planned to enhance exchange and awareness within the scientific community.
Beneficiaries
The direct beneficiaries of the programme are Luxembourg research institutions and, consequently, their partners in developing countries. The final beneficiaries are the populations targeted by the supported projects. For example, in Ukraine, one of the research projects is exploring alternatives to traditional therapies to better address the effects of post-traumatic stress.
Target geographical area
The programme has a global reach, with projects underway in Ukraine, Bangladesh, Laos, and Senegal. Areas of intervention depend on the partnerships established within the framework of the selected projects.
Stakeholders
LuxAid BRIDGES is implemented by LuxDev, in partnership with the National Research Fund (FNR). It also involves academic actors such as the Luxembourg Institute of Science and Technology (LIST).
