Combining business growth and positive impact? Yes, it is possible: the 15th edition of the Business Partnership Facility (BPF) is now open! This initiative of the Luxembourg Government, implemented by LuxDev, the Luxembourg Development Cooperation Agency, supports European companies and their local partners in jointly developing solutions that address market needs, improve the lives of people in developing countries and integrate a sustainability dimension. While previous editions offered a maximum co‑financing amount of EUR 200,000, the BPF now provides up to EUR 300,000. This increase opens up even greater opportunities for projects with strong impact potential.

Inspiring examples

Looking for concrete examples to better understand the BPF and spark ideas? Discover some of the projects selected in the previous edition:

  • SolarCleano, together with a local partner, is deploying its solar panel cleaning robots in West Africa, supporting the growth of solar energy and contributing to job creation and local economic activity;
  • Innovent, in partnership with Chadian start‑up Batrica, is developing a solar‑powered battery rental model that offers basic electricity services to rural communities in Chad.

Where business opportunities meet development cooperation

Since its launch in 2016, the BPF has supported 51 partnership projects linking European businesses with organisations based in more than 20 developing countries.

The BPF enables companies to apply their technologies or expertise to projects with high development impact. Supported initiatives may include testing a solution in a new market, implementing a pilot project or scaling up an innovative solution.

Apply by 8 May 2026

Interested companies can submit their applications through the dedicated online platform until 8 May 2026.

The BPF is open to private‑sector companies that are:

  • based in Luxembourg or in the European Union;
  • registered for more than three years;
  • generating a minimum annual turnover of EUR 500,000 (or three times the requested co‑funding amount);
  • employing at least five staff members.

Eligible projects must be implemented in partnership with an entity – such as a company, NGO, public body, etc. – in a developing country (over 140 countries qualify). Projects are assessed based on criteria including innovation, financial viability and measurable contribution to the Sustainable Development Goals.

The selection process takes place in two stages:

  • pre‑selection based on an initial application form;
  • final selection, scheduled for the end of 2026, based on detailed proposals submitted by shortlisted companies.
