LAO/020 project (www.lanith.com) aims to contribute to economic development and poverty reduction in Laos, through the development of the hospitality and tourism sector. The project focuses particularly on capacity building in order to improve the quality of service in the sector.

The first activity focuses on the strategy and the institutionalization of training in the hospitality and tourism sector in Laos from the point of view of conceptualizing and implementing human resources development.

The project also concentrates on training content for skills in the areas of  food and beverage, restaurant management, front desk, housekeeping, tour guides and travel agents.

In addition, the project works on training of trainers to further build  teaching capacities.

Finally, the project and its partners will build and operate a Hospitality and Tourism school. This involves not only the construction of the school but also its complete equipment with kitchens and training facilities (computers, resources, library). While construction is underway in Vientiane, the Luang Prabang facility (The Balcony) is already operational.

Existing and future stakeholders of the tourism and hospitality sector are the main beneficiaries of this project and will become important contributors to a growing sector with growing revenues in Laos.
